The ConVal School District is pleased to announce that the Region 14 Applied Technology Center (ATC) was recently awarded a $43,507.95 grant from the New Hampshire Department of Education.
The targeted focus of the grant is to help school districts expand access to attaining industry-recognized credentials for students in career technical education programs.
With the funding, the ATC will purchase the Snap-On Precision Measurements Instruments Certification Kit and offer Train-the-Trainer professional development to two instructors so they may teach students how to measure accurately. The Kit includes measurement tools such as tape and rule, slide calipers, gauges, angles, micrometers, and dial gauges.
"We are thrilled that our students will now be able to obtain this industry-recognized certification," said Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Rizzo Saunders. "We wish to thank the New Hampshire Department of Education for this generous grant, which will surely help advance our students' knowledge and prepare them for successful careers in the trades. We would also like to offer a special thanks to Jennifer Kiley, Director of the ATC, for her hard work in obtaining this competitive grant."
The ATCās local industry partners have repeatedly shared that the need to measure accurately is an essential skill for their employees and one they often find lacking in job applicants. By providing the students the opportunity to become certified in multiple modes of measurement, the ATC seeks to make graduates of the CTE programs more career-ready.
The ATC plans to first train Manufacturing and Engineering students and eventually open the program to students and staff in the Automotive Tech and Construction Trades pathways.

Students in Frau Hodgdonās German IV class had a unique challenge for their finals. They had to design a scientific experiment involving salt (their current unit of study), propose a hypothesis, conduct the experiment following the scientific method, and then present the experiment and its results to students and visitors in class ā and do all of it in German!
The studentsā presentations ranged from the effect of salt water on Gummi bears and the importance of adding salt to rice crispies to how adding salt to water affects buoyancy and how different types of salt (Himalayan rock salt, iodized salt, and kosher salt) melt ice differently. All student experiments were solidly researched and well presented in the target language.
Congratulations to all students in the two classes who combined science knowledge and German skills in such an impressive manner!

Mrs. Lyons and her students have received cold water trout eggs and supplies in December to start the project. For the next couple of months, they will calculate their growth based on the temperature of the water. Once the trout are at the proper growth they will be released into the Contoocook River to help stock the wild brook trout in our area. Ā

With their respective art teachers Karrie Mitchmyer, Ben Putnam, and Carolann Tebbetts looking on, students in 2D Studio Art, 3D Studio Art, and Ceramics present their portfolios to three first-block art classes in the library.
The portfolio presentations include discussions of what inspired students to do certain art pieces, the techniques that were used to make them, and the lessons they have learned from working on and seeing their projects through to the end.
"Although there is an evaluative aspect to these presentations, this is really a celebration of all the artwork that the students have made over the course of the semester," said Ben Putnam.

Using Solidworks, a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering application, students in Karen Fabianski's Engineering Design III class design a lantern.
The Solidworks software is used to assemble the parts, transfer the CAD file to a two-dimensional .jpg file, and then convert it to a RoboDemo (.rd) file that is used to create training simulations and product demonstrations. The .rd file contains the computer instructions to control the speed and feed rate for a laser engraver/cutter.
This unique take on the lantern design assignment was created by senior Wyatt Beaulieu.

In the week before vacation, TASC homerooms competed in a door decorating contest, hosted by the senior class. The rules were simple: decorate your TASC homeroom door in a holiday theme, but without leaving any damage to the door or obstructing the door windows and handles.
The Class of 2023 took photos of eachĀ decoratedĀ doorĀ after TASC on December 19. The photos were uploaded to a Google Form and shared so the whole school could vote for their favorite.
The winner was announced Friday morning. Selected "most favorite door" by students and staff was the TASC homeroom of Mr. Winslow who scored 50 points for the freshman class in the year-long school spirit competition. Congratulations!

During their in-school field trip in the ConVal Library on December 20, members of the Youth & Government club meet in groups and with their co-curricular advisors to work on draft bills, researching topics, creating partnerships, and proposing specific legislative language.
This year, the students' legislative proposals cover a wide range of issues: expanding affordable housing in the state; teaching world languages, starting at the elementary school level; reintroducing grey wolves into their traditional New Hampshire habitats; improving recyclable packaging guidelines; reassessing helmet laws; and restricting the expenditure of political action committee (PAC) monies to the last two weeks of a campaign.
Once formalized, these proposals will be carried forward to the pre-legislative session in March 2023, where state officials will be elected from participating high schools and two students from the state will be selected to participate in the Youth Advocacy Day in Washington, DC. In April 2023, an all-encompassing two-day model legislature session will be held at the State House in Concord.
Youth and Government, also known as Model Legislature and Court, is a program of the YMCA that has been in existence for nearly seven decades. The purpose of the program is to prepare high school students for political citizenship in local, state, or national government roles. The program serves approximately 300 teens from 30 schools throughout New Hampshire.

Even the heavy snowstorm last Friday could not keep students away from the planned winter formal in the ConVal Gymnasium on Saturday night, December 17.
The Snow Ball dance was sponsored by the class of 2024. About 250 students attended the event which featured a professional DJ playing favorite tunes.
In addition to providing the music entertainment, student organizers prepared a formal setup, complete with linen tablecloths, dinner, snacks, and refreshments. There was also a photo booth with a festive backdrop.
Congratulations, Class of 2024, for hosting a successful, community-building event!

Recently, in Ms. Voorhees' and Mrs. Topping's class, 1st graders designed "bear dens" using marshmallows and toothpicks. The structures had to be free standing, not be attached to any surface, and not need human support to stay upright.

The ConVal Select Choir, under the direction of Brian Moore, performed a Holiday Concert with the Renaissance Men in the Old Meeting House in Francestown on Sunday, December 11.
Joni Lohr serves on the Board of Directors for the Old Meeting House and provided these courtesy photographs. She noted about the performance: "I very much enjoyed working with Brian to organize this year's Francestown Holiday Concert at the Old Meeting House; he was quick to respond to my many queries and requests, and he offered some excellent ideas along the way."
"The community appreciated all the effort that the students brought to provide wonderful music to the friends and families of Francestown! Brian has a great rapport with his students, and he clearly knows how to bring out the best in them. From the first note to the last, their voices touched the hearts and lifted our spirits; this was a terrific way to ring in the holiday season. Great job!"

The World Language Clubs (German and Spanish) at ConVal High School held a friendly gingerbread house-building competition recently.
There were simple, traditional designs but also elaborate builds with snowmen, swimming pools, and Christmas trees on the virtual lawn outside the gingerbread house. Some designs featured candy fire coming out of the chimney, and some had Santa on the rooftop.
The completed gingerbread houses were judged on such criteria as cultural authenticity, neatness, and creativity. The overall favorite was gingerbread house #5.
So that all students and staff could enjoy seeing their work, all student designs went on display on the lunch serving counter in the cafeteria.

If you are interested in helping and promoting ConVal Athletics, volunteering with the Friends of ConVal Athletics (FCVA) is a great opportunity to make a lasting contribution. With the changeover from fall to winter sports, FCVA is looking for volunteers.
There is an immediate need for Saturday, December 10. According to FCVA Volunteer Chair Jen Bergeron: "Specifically, we are in need of volunteers for Saturday's all-day Wrestling Tournament. We're looking for people to work the stand for however long they can, and for others who can donate crock pots or other food items."
To volunteer, please follow this SignUp Genius link. Prior volunteering experience is not required, and you can choose which winter sports team to support.
"Volunteers can earn money for any FCVA team they choose, for every hour or food item," Bergeron continued. "All those who volunteered and contributed in the fall season earned $28 per hour/item for the team of their choice. We also gladly accept food and money donations!"
Friends of ConVal Athletics fosters a spirit of cooperation and support among ConVal athletes and the broader community. For more details, please visit the FCVA Facebook page or contact Jen Bergeron at fcvavolunteer@gmail.com with any questions you may have.

ConVal's Sarah Grossi delivered a presentation at the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) CareerTech VISION 2022 conference in Las Vegas on Friday, December 2. The title of her workshop, which she presented in collaboration with R. Lennon Audrain, was "Designing and Implementing Grow-your-own Education Programs using Work-based Learning."
The presentation addressed the "grow-your-own (GYO) teacher programs" under the Education & Training career cluster in school districts. According to the workshop description, as schools and districts continue to build these programs, "it will be essential that they use best practices for teaching their students the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to ā and capturing their interest in ā work in the education field. In Eric Bowman's World Religions class, students have been studying holidays celebrated by religions of the world.
Students thought it would be fun if they prepared food traditionally served at these holiday celebrations. While it was not required, students made food to share with their classmates, creating a fun, festive environment.
In this photo, students are enjoying chicken, cookies, and salad commonly consumed in Middle Eastern countries in celebration of Eid al Fitr.

Students who are enrolled in the ATC Manufacturing program went on a field trip to two local businesses ā the D.S. Huntington Architectural Woodworking Company and the PHAZE Welding Technology Center ā to explore the manufacturing process, from design to finished product.
"Both of these facilities offered hands-on demonstrations of all the steps that are involved in production," said Michael Scaramellino. "The tour guides also gave advice regarding potential internship opportunities as studentsĀ advanceĀ in the Manufacturing program at ConVal."
"But what made this experience truly special," Scaramelliono continued, "is that they also shared what expectations and skills employers and companies are looking for as students make career choices and get ready to enter the workforce."
If you are looking to learn more about Manufacturing & Engineering, please speak with your guidance counselor to see what course options are available in ConVal's Applied Technology Center next semester.

Lydia Cleveland is a senior who is taking Ms. Mitschmyer's Ceramics class this semester. For a recent assignment, she created a website that features her own work and the work of an artist, Bailey Arend, who also works in clay.
"What I especially liked about Lydia's website was how well thought out it was," said Mitschmyer. "Not only does she share and reflect on her creative process ā including drawings of what she intends to do in clay and at what stage her pieces are in the design and making process ā she also includes her SMART goals for the remaining weeks of the semester. This is exemplary work, both from an artistic viewpoint and from a web-based communications perspective."

Welcome to the ConVal High School Winter Fan Store!
This store will be open TWICE: Opening 11/20 and closing 11/28 for Christmas (we will message you if ANYTHING won't be ready in time - can happen if things are coming from west coast) and then again for later, December/January open/close for anyone who missed the first round!
To get to the sales, follow this link: https://cvhs-winter-22-23-fanwear.itemorder.com/shop/sale/.
IMPORTANT:
As you may be aware, there are still issues with the supply chain for apparel. At the time of the store opening, all items were available. This can change at the last moment - and we may have to change brands due to availability.
Images show the basic ConVal logo - you may chose THAT logo ("NO sport") or your WINTER sport of preference. We set the store up just a wee bit different this year with general items AND then a section for each sport. You can access a sport by scrolling down OR clicking on the tabs at the top.
Once the store closes, we will order products and as soon as they arrive, we will begin embroidering & screen printing.
All purchases will be bagged and delivered to the high school for pickup (we will email you with that information).
Feel free to call if you have any questions (603) 344-0423.

The ConVal Holiday Craft Fair took place on Saturday, November 19, in the ConVal gym.
There were holiday decorations handmade by crafters and makers of all sorts as well hand-knit and crocheted clothing items by local artisans. In addition, representatives from national brands and direct sales vendors presented a wide variety of merchandise. Former ConVal High School Director of School Counseling Kim Chandler reserved a space to share her book Covered Bridges of New Hampshire, a photographic history of all sixty-one covered bridges in the state, presented in then-and-now comparisons.
A student-run food court offered hot meals (soups, chili, mac & cheese, meatballs, kielbasa), sweet treats (cookies, muffins, and brownies), snacks (popcorn), as well as coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and soda.
The Holiday Craft Fair was organized by the Class of 2023. The class advisors, Rebecca Dunn and Ashley Jones, were happy to see the tradition continue under the leadership of the senior class. Said Jones, āThe students put a lot of work into organizing and promoting the fair. Their enthusiasm was reflected in the great number of visitors who enjoyed the event.ā

A tradition that was started nearly 50 years ago by the late Jim Grant in the early 1970s was held again at Temple Elementary School, after the pandemic had forced a hiatus for the past several years.
On Thursday, the school welcomed seniors for the annual Temple Senior ThanksgivingĀ Feast. The Temple Recreation Department pays for all the fixings, including 200 pounds of turkey, while staff and student families cook it all and drop it off in the am. There were 18 pies were cooked by the children at TES. They also performed songs for the seniors!
We are so thankful for the return of this traditionĀ which means so much to the staff and students as well as to the wider community of Temple.

CONVAL SCHOOL DISTRICT COMMUNITY FORUM
ConVal High School in the Lucy Hurlin Theater.
Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 6:30 ā 8:30 PM
Your ConVal School Board and Administration are finalizing the activities for the next ConVal Community Forum on Thursday, November 10 at 6:30-8:30PM. We are excited about providing you this opportunity for a constructive, open, informative and meaningful dialog. With an activity such as this there are lots of things to know so you can be prepared for participating in and making this a successful experience. To learn all about this activity please see below:
Where and when is the Community Forum?
ConVal High School in the Lucy Hurlin Theater and via Live Stream on Thursday, November 10 at 6:30-8:30PM.
What is a community forum?
A community forum is a meeting where there are presentations and all can discuss, share knowledge, and talk to each other about topics of mutual interest.
Why do we need a community forum?
School board meetings, being business meetings, provide a limited venue for The ConVal School Board and Administration to engage with our community. We believe in being open and transparent in all of our activities. We believe in ensuring that the ConVal community is engaged and informed. A community forum is one mechanism to achieve these goals.
How do I attend the Community forum?
We are providing two ways for the public to attend the community forum. You can come to the Lucy Hurlin Theater at ConVal high school to attend in person or you can attend the forum via a Live Stream feed from the forum.
How is the Community Forum organized?
We have selected three important topics to be presented. Each topic will start with a presentation and after the presentation there will be an opportunity for either audience to ask questions. Each question will be answered by the presenter or by a member of the School Board or Administration. We have also allowed time for both audiences to ask questions on any other school district relevant topic. There will be a moderator that will control the flow of information and activities at the community forum.
How are questions presented?
After each of the prepared topics are presented, the in-person audience will have an opportunity to ask questions directly to the moderator who will direct the question to the appropriate person to answer. Members of the audience that are remote and on the live-stream will be able to submit their questions via email ( to community forum members. These folks will select questions from the emails received and give to the moderator who will direct the question to the appropriate person to answer.
How do I attend remotely via live stream and how do I submit questions?
The live stream will be done as a YouTube event. This means that the community forum will be recorded as a video on U-tube so that not only can it be viewed as it is taking place but it can be viewed at any time after the community forum is completed as it will always be on YouTube servers..
To view this forum via live stream at 6:30 PM on Thursday, November 10th, click on this YouTube link ConVal Events or type in this link https://www.youtube.com/c/ConValEvents then select the ā2022 October 10 Community Forumā video from the list of available videos.
To send in a question via email please use the following email address Forum@conval.edu.
Why should I attend the ConVal community forum?
It is your money, it is your school district, it is the education of your children, and it is your community. Be involved. Make a difference.
How do I get some information about the presentations prior to the forum?
A draft copy of the ConVal Strategic plan is available for your review. The link address to click on to review the draft copy is below. You will have time to formulate your questions and send them in advance of the forum, if you desire. To send in a question via email please use the following email address Forum@conval.edu.
What topics are being presented?
PRESENTATIONS.
There will be three presentations at this forum being:

This presentation will be done by Jim Fredrickson, School Board Representative ā Sharon and will be an overview/status/update of the renovation project that is currently scoped to include the high school, ATC, and the two middle schools (Great Brook and SMS). This will be the first presentation and with Q/Aās is scheduled to take 20 minutes.
The Strategic Plan, It will be presented in two parts. The first by Tom Burges ā School Board Representative ā Peterborough and the second will be presented by Kimberly Saunders, ConVal Superintendent. This presentation will give the audience information about the background for a Strategic plan, the activities, including community involvement that has taken place, activities that will take place to produce a final plan, how the plan is implemented and summarizes the five year Strategic Plan that will involve the below priority areas:

Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and the ConVal School Board invite members of the community to offer feedback on the Districtās draft strategic plan as it works to finalize the roadmap it will follow in the five years to come.
The draft document can be accessed here, and members of the community who would like to provide feedback on the substance of the report, such as stated goals and benchmarks for success, can do so by emailing strategicplanpubliccomment@conval.edu.
Public comment on the Strategic Plan is open from November 3-14.
āThe community has been an instrumental part of the process of developing this plan, which will serve as a guiding document for us as we navigate the next five years and work toward our core goals of better serving our students,ā Rizzo Saunders said. āThe public comment period on the draft document is a final, critical step in completing this plan and Iām hopeful the community will continue its robust participation in this process.ā
The strategic planning process began last fall following the creation of a Strategic Plan Steering Committee and subcommittees consisting of staff, parents and community members. As part of the strategic planning work, community members were invited to take part in a survey on their vision for the future of the district. In all, 750 members of the community responded to the survey.
Following the completion of the survey, ConVal contracted Think Strategy to conduct focus groups to provide deeper insight into community membersā feedback.
Six subcommittees ā Curriculum and Instruction, Finance and Capital Planning, Co-Curricular and Athletics, Personnel, Wellness, and Technology ā reviewed survey results and focus group feedback on their areas of concern and developed draft goals based on that feedback. The Strategic Plan Steering Committee subsequently worked to develop priority areas for the District and goals for the administration. The resulting strategic plan will guide ConValās work through 2027, when the strategic planning process will be renewed for the next five years.

For the next several days, the stage in the Lucy Hurlin Theatre has been transformed into the interior of an isolated island castle ā the setting of the ConVal Theatre Arts production of And Then There Were None ā¦
Based on Agatha Christieās 1939 mystery novel by the same title, the play follows a group of ten guests who have been invited to the castle by a mysterious stranger. Though none of the guests know each other, nor their host, it becomes clear in the course of the evening dinner that what they all have in common is that they bear responsibility for the deaths of others. One by one, the guests meet their fate under bizarre and inexplicable circumstances.
"I will be the first to admit to being the kind of person who watches a gruesome true crime documentary to 'relax' at the end of a long day," said Liz Moore. "Who doesnāt enjoy a great 'whodunnit' with a few twists, turns, and head-scratching clues to unravel?"
The play has generated extraordinary student interest and participation. "There are not words to properly describe how exciting it was to have 33 students audition (for only 11 roles)," Moore noted. "We have not had that many people audition for a straight play in my 13 years at ConVal. Weāve double-cast two previous productions, but NEVER triple, and never have we had specifically identified understudies."
The following table illustrates the various ensembles ("Stage Right," "Stage Left," and "Back Stage") and the student participants in their respective roles:
[table id=74 /]
The play's production staff includes: Esther Janis, AJ Mackensen (Stage Managers); Jennifer Hopkins (Lighting Designer); Josh Ellis (Sound Designer); Elijah LaCroix (Sound Effects); Frank LeBlanc (Microphone Tech); Kettu Reynolds (Properties Manager); Isabella Stehly, Max DePoyster (Costume Design); Christian Hall, Mike Scaramellino, Jim Wickham (Set Construction); Anna-belle Buchanan, Kai Flynn, Alyssa Hamlin, Alex Williams (Crew); Jason Lambert (The Voice); and Liz Moore (Director, Season Producer).
Moore expressed gratitude to the many others who helped in the production: "We have had support from SO many within and without our building as we rebuild our program after the pandemic. We cannot thank you enough for your support for the Arts and all it brings us."
Opening night is November 3 at 7:00 pm, followed by performances on November 4 (7:00 pm) and on November 5 (2:00 pm and 7:00 pm). Tickets ā $5 for students, staff, and seniors $5.00, $10 for adults ā can be purchased online by clicking here.

Great Brook School's Maryanne Cullinan recently collaborated with colleagues from around the world and presented research at the Transformative Play Initiative Seminar that was held at Uppsala University in Gotland, Sweden.Ā
Cullinan, who has been teaching in ConVal since 2005, has been pursuing her Ph.D. at Lesley University and is focusing her research on role-playing games (RPG) as a way to maximize educational accessibility. Over the past year, sheās collaborated with Rich Oxenham of Bath, England, who founded Hatchling Games and is the creator of the RPG Inspirisles.
Inspirisles is a completely original all-ages Tabletop RPG promoting storytelling, empathy and Deaf awareness with an emphasis on cooperation.
Inspirisles is designed to teach hearing students basic sign language and deaf awareness. Cullinan used the game as part of an elective course for seventh and eighth graders at Great Brook. Those studentsā experiences served as the subject for Cullinan and Oxenhamās presentation highlighting the use of the game to build cultural awareness and teach American sign language to middle school students.
āTeachers need to be increasingly creative to meet the needs of students, who will need thinking skills as well as content in the real world," Cullinan said. "Roleplaying games are an academically understudied pedagogy, even though teachers have seen them do wonders with kids. It's amazing our little school can be part of research and journal articles that help forward the use of RPGs all over the world!ā
In addition to her work with Inspirisles, Cullinan has been collaborating closely with Jennifer Genova, a middle school social studies teacher in Salem to develop a theoretical matrix meant to help educators select or create RPGs that maximize their studentsā social-emotional or academic development. Their shared work was the subject of a second presentation at last weekās conference, which focused on analyzing RPGs and their use in educational settings.
āI am very proud of Maryanneās commitment to discovering creative ways to engage students in rigorous academics and cultural competency,ā Great Brook School Principal Kat Foecking said. āShe is the kind of out-of-the-box thinker that drives educational innovation, which directly benefits our students.āĀ

Dear parents of ANY South Meadow School Student that would like to play a 2022-23 Winter Sport at South Meadow School, starting November 7th, 2022.
My name is Tod Silegy and I am starting my 23rd year at South Meadow School as Physical Education Teacher, Athletic Director, and Boys Soccer Coach and Girls Soccer Coach.
To play a sport at the high school level or middle school level in the ConVal district, ALL athletes must take the Initial Impact Concussion Test. This test is not a competition and there is no score, but the test does create a baseline for each athleteās brain when it is healthy.
Hopefully this will not happen, but if your child does receive a concussion that is verified by your primary care physician while playing a sport for SMS, your child would have to sit out practices and games until your primary care physician clears your child to resume participating. Once the primary care physician clears your child to resume play, your child would have to take the Post-Concussion Impact test. The Post-Concussion Impact Test would then be compared to your childās Initial Impact Test Baseline, and if it compares well, your child would be allowed to resume play for SMS.
Please have your child take the Initial Impact Test at home, this weekend if possible.
Below is the link to take the Initial Impact Test. Your child should be in a quiet place that will be undisturbed until completed. Click on the link, then put in the Impact Test Code, then follow the prompts until you get to the āstart test.ā
Ideally a parent should help your child get through the first part of the testās demographics. The test asks for name, birthdate, etc., but also questions about add, headaches, dizziness, etc. My experience tells me many student athletes are not sure how to answer these questions. You may also click that you do not want to complete any demographics. After the test is started, your child should be able to handle the test on their own. In the end you do not have to do any emailing of results. Just sign out!
All information goes to and is stored in the ConVal Athletic Initial Impact Test data base. You do not have to send me any information.
This test is good for any other sport your child would like to play throughout their year at SMS, and the test is good for two years. If you child did NOT take the test last year, 2021, they HAVE TO take it this year. Thank you,

For their midterm exam in Mike Scaramellino's Woodshop class, ATC students demonstrated their skills by creating directions for the making of wooden mallets that were both functioning and stylish.
"This was the first project that the students did on their own," said Scaramellino. "Having watched step-by-step YouTube tutorial videos ahead of the assignment, the students had to develop their own directions, and then follow those directions in executing their projects."
The exemplar mallets are exhibited in the ATC atrium for the next couple of weeks. Using a QR code link to a Google form, visitors to the exhibit can cast their votes for the best in show wooden mallet.

On Tuesday, October 25, students from Ms. Cooper's AP Language & Composition Course, Mr. Fetrow's Philosophy course, and six Austrian guests traveled south to Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts.
While at the pond, students learned about Henry David Thoreau's life while residing at Walden Pond and the legacy he left behind for all Transcendentalist enthusiasts. The Education Director from The Walden Woods Project provided guided tours throughout the conservation land.
Students went to the Walden Pond visitor center/bookstore, explored the replica of Thoreau's cabin, walked to the original cabin site, and several of them decided that it was just warm enough to splash around in the pond.
The day before the field trip, students had painted rocks to leave at the growing memorial adjacent to the original cabin site, so a little bit of ConVal from 2022 will remain in the woods.
Despite the foggy, overcast weather, it was a beautiful day to be outside, enjoying nature.

On Friday, October 21, Keene State College hosted CTE day for several high schools from NH and MA.
ConVal High School students attended presentationsĀ about how they can further their education in dedicated CTE programs at Keene and how they, as technical program completers in the Applied Technology Center at ConVal, could already earn college credit.
The ConVal High School student group broke out into two class sessions, one before lunch and one after, based on the programs the students are currently in.Ā One group went to ceramics and learned about clay. The instructor demonstrated how to make tiles and invited students to sculpt a self-portrait blindfolded.Ā Additional activities included science and engineering mini-lessons, a 3D printing demonstration, and a visit to a photography exhibit.
Keene State currently offers CTE students up to 8 college credits from work accomplished. Scholarships are available for students who major in chemistry, biology, and sustainable product design and innovation ā as supported by the STEPS Program and the Delmar Ogg Scholarship Fund.
