Special Services

In addition to managing student records, providing instructional services, overseeing school counseling, meeting health service needs, and addressing social work issues, the Student Services Department also provides special services in the ConVal School District.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

MTSS is an instructional framework that includes universal screening of all students, multiple tiers of instruction and support services, and an integrated data collection and assessment system to inform decisions at each tier of instruction.

MTSS grew out of the integration of two other intervention-based frameworks: Response to Intervention (RtI) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

The Student Services Department acts in concert with the school district’s strategic plan partners to support Tier 1, 2, and 3 academic interventions in all schools. In addition, Student Services provides Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), processes by which students and young adults learn to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, and establish and maintain positive relationships.
