Using Research To Inform Practice

The renewal and development of curriculum and instructional practice in the ConVal Regional School District is based on a multi-tiered process and system that is designed to assure that students receive a robust and cutting-edge guaranteed curriculum that is grounded in research-based practice and in which teachers have an ongoing and meaningful role in developing and implementing both curriculum and instructional practice.   To meet this goal, the District employs a combination of curriculum mapping, cyclical curriculum renewal, and a systematic use of rigorous research and piloting of new curriculum and strategies. In March of 2015 a team presented this approach at the annual international conference of the Association of Curriculum Development and Supervision.
