Dismissal of Greenfield Elementary School

Dear Families:

I want to let each of you know that today we had to address a threat directed toward the safety of a staff member who works at Greenfield Elementary School. The staff member received the threat before arriving at school. Law enforcement was notified and responded immediately. After consulting with law enforcement, we took the precaution of dismissing students for the day to ensure their safety and the safety of staff.

During the morning bus commute, as a precaution school busses were directed to Oak Park for student dismissal. Parents received a School Messenger alert informing them of the situation and how to reunite with their children. Staff worked together to assure that students were happy during their time in the park. I want to thank parents and the staff for helping to make this unexpected dismissal a very smooth and calm process.

We are working closely with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. Since this is an active investigation, there is limited information we are able to share at this time. I can appreciate your desire for more information, and there will be a meeting for Greenfield Elementary School parents on November 21 st beginning at 6:30pm at Greenfield Elementary School.

As always, the safety of staff and students is our paramount responsibility. If you have questions, please contact me at the SAU office.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Rizzo Saunders
Superintendent of Schools
